Term 3
Calender 2014
Check in: So far I have completed months January through October. In these months I have stuck to my original theme of scenery and cats. I have expanded it a little but still kept the overall theme the same. The only month that I did not include scenery in is the month of May. For this month i put a cats face on a giraffes body. I also put a cat paw were the giraffes hoof would be. What I have been doing for the rest of the months are searching scenery pictures on Google images and i got ideas in my head from searching this. I also searched for cats and looked up different things for cats like: cat faces, cats in water, cats running, sleeping cats, and funny pictures of cats. Looking all of this up gave me many ideas for my artwork on each month.
Calendar Reflection
The assignment that the class was given was to create a calendar for the year of 2014. This calendar needed all of the days in each month, and a graphic to go with each month, for all of the months in the year. Before the class began, they needed to know key input factors to complete the calendar. A computer was needed to complete this assignment. Also, windows publisher, paint, illustrator, and adobe Photoshop were all needed to complete this project/assignment. The research that was preformed prior to the start of the assignment was deciding what the overall theme of the calendar would be. Scenery and cats were chosen as the theme.
The first thing that was done was find a theme. After this the calendar was ready to begin being made. January was started first due to it being the first month in the year. Next, the graphic for the month was created. For this month an image of scenery was chosen on google images and also an image of a cat was chosen on google images. These two photos were then somehow put together in Photoshop (each month varied). After this was done all of the months holidays were put in the grid part of the calendar. Then the important moon phases of the month were marked with moon images made on paint. These important phases were full moon, new moon, and first, and last quarter. Then a short summary was added to the top half of the calendar with that graphic. Another short summary was added to the bottom half with the grid if able to fit. After all of this was done a graphic was chosen to put behind the grid to add something more and make it less plain. This graphic needed to have a low contrast so it would not make it hard to see any of the days of the month, holidays, or moon phases. This process was then continued with every month of the year.
The final output of this project is a calendar of the year of 2014. This calendar is of scenery pictures with cats somehow incorporated in them. Feedback was received on the project thought its creation. Feedback that was received was to add more to the summary’s for each month. This feedback helped the project in the long run. Many things were learned throughout this assignment. For example, many tools from Photoshop were acquired. If this project were to be completed again, it would have been more planned out. This is because many of the months did not all go along with each other. The layout would have been planned better. All of the graphics would have been chosen before the calendar was starts. This is due to making the calendar an easier process.
